Bybit has introduced Passkey 2.0, a Fast Identity Online (FIDO) passkey that uses biometrics registered on your device for secure verification across different devices. Passkeys add an extra layer of protection for withdrawals, ensuring faster and more secure transactions to safeguard your account.
Note: Currently, Passkeys are not supported for account login. Additional verification methods may be triggered based on account risk, even after setting up a Passkey. This guide covers setting up and managing Passkeys on the Bybit App, along with frequently asked questions.
Create a Passkey
Before creating a Passkey, ensure you are using supported devices and the latest Bybit App version:
Devices |
App Version |
A device with iOS 16 or Android 7.0 and above, or a USB security key that supports the FIDO2 protocol. |
Bybit App version 4.42.0 or above. |
Passkey verification methods may vary depending on your device. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to add a Passkey to the Bybit App. Please use your most commonly used device to add the Passkey to your Bybit account.
Step 1: Log in to your Bybit App. Tap on your profile icon, navigate to the Security section, and select Passkey.
Step 2: Tap Add Passkey and then proceed with Continue. Complete the required security verification. You can create a maximum of 10 Passkeys.
If you have enabled the existing Passkeys, you can upgrade to the Passkey 2.0 feature by tapping Upgrade. Note that upgrading will invalidate previous biometric verifications and new Passkeys must be set up.
Step 3: You’ll see a pop-up window and you can select your passkey method.
a) Face ID (for iOS devices only): Tap Continue to complete the biometric authentication.
b) Screen lock/PIN (for Android devices only): Tap Continue to verify with your screen lock or PIN.
c) iCloud Keychain (for IOS devices only): Tap Other Options, select iCloud Keychain, and verify with your password or biometrics. The Passkey will be synchronized across all your Apple devices using the same Apple ID.
d) Another device (for iOS devices only): Tap Other Options, select iPhone, iPad, or Android device, tap Continue, and scan the QR code with another device to log in to your Bybit account.
e) USB/NFC security key (for iOS devices only)
For iOS: Tap Other Options, select Security key, insert and activate your USB security key, or bring your NFC key near your device to verify.
